Charlie

Charlie joined Shepherds Barbershop in Birmingham at just 17 and his journey to get here is one of the best in the shop. It started in lockdown, cutting hair in his garden shed after his family needed a trim and he quickly became obsessed with getting better. Word spread, a loyal clientele followed, and after years of building his own reputation, Charlie came to Shepherds for work experience as a client of Sam’s. He impressed from day one, secured an apprenticeship, was promoted to Junior Barber a year later, and reached Creative Barber the year after that. Not bad for someone who started in a shed.

At Shepherds Barbershop, Piccadilly Arcade, Charlie specialises in medium length cuts and on-trend styles — the kind of modern, considered looks that take real skill to execute properly. He has a natural connection with younger clients and brings a fresh creative energy to every cut.

Outside the chair, Charlie is the drummer in his own band, Rood End. He loves new wave rock, experimental music, and anything from the 60s — and you’ll find him at music festivals and cultural city breaks whenever he gets the chance. Away from music, he’s a keen cook with a particular weakness for fajitas.
